MHC Historical Society Members’ Reception & Annex Grand Opening |

The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society is celebrating the long-awaited annex opening! Members are invited to an exclusive ribbon-cutting reception on Friday, Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, wine, live piano, and the first look at exhibits in the new 13,000-square-foot space. Memberships can be renewed or purchased at the event.
The celebration continues with a public grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 6, 3–8 p.m., featuring children’s activities, refreshments, and live music—free for kids and members! |

🏍️ Ride to Back the Blue – Sept. 20
Join in for a ride with purpose! On Saturday, September 20th, motorcycle enthusiasts will gather at Martinsville Speedway (souvenir lot) for the Ride to Back the Blue, the kickoff to the Bassett Hwy 57 Cruise In.
Riders will roll out at 2:15 PM with a police escort, ending at the Cruise In in Bassett for an afternoon of cars, community, and celebration.
A $10 donation is encouraged, with all proceeds benefiting local law enforcement benevolence funds. |

The Virginia Museum of Natural History has unveiled the newly constructed Jean S. Adams Education Pavilion, a 3-season, open-air, programming and visitor area overlooking neighboring J. Frank Wilson Memorial Park. Designed to be both an extension of the museum’s public exhibit space and an additional venue for the museum’s expansive educational programs and special events, the pavilion is the largest physical space addition to the museum’s current facility since its 2007 grand opening.

Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Returns to Martinsville Speedway for NASCAR Playoffs Race Weekend
After making its groundbreaking oval debut at Martinsville Speedway last year, the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin will return to the famous short track alongside NASCAR’s top-tier series.
Mazda’s signature spec series, now in its 20th season, will replicate its single-day exhibition event on Thursday, October 23, leading into the penultimate weekend for the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and CRAFTSMAN Truck series championships.
