VA 250 Weekend in Martinsville! |

Experience Virginia's history firsthand with the VA 250 Mobile Museum at the Martinsville-Henry County Heritage Museum on August 9 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. This interactive museum on wheels brings the stories of Virginia's rich history to communities across the Commonwealth.
The mobile museum will be located in front of the Heritage Museum throughout the event. Admission is free. |

Start your VA 250 festivities with a day of family fun at Piedmont Arts! Join the festivities in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden on August 8 for patriotic games, DIY party hats, hands-on crafts, and a bounce house as they celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

Smith River Fest is August 22 |

Run, paddle, cast, and bike your way to fun at Smith River Fest! Held annually at the Monogram Foods Smith River Sports Complex in Henry County, Virginia, this event is truly a celebration of all things associated with the Smith River and our great outdoors. Float the river, learn to fly-fish, browse vendors, and challenge yourself in the Helgramite Hustle 5K Mud Run.
Join us as we celebrate the Smith River and itβs 45 miles of scenic beauty flowing through our community and the nearly 20 miles of shared-use trails that make up the Smith River Trail System.

New Exhibits Coming to Piedmont Arts in August |

Discover three new exhibitions at Piedmont Arts this month, including the thought-provoking group show COLLECTive Concerns: Collage and Assemblage, featuring work by curator Reni Gower and 11 other artists, Chris Gregson: Novus Ordo Seclorum, a new series of richly layered contemporary paintings, and Bull Mountain Arts: Local Artists Showcase, celebrating the work of regional artists. Join the free opening reception on Friday, Aug. 28, for live music by Joanie McPeak, an artist talk with Reni Gower and Chris Gregson, and a first look at the new exhibits. Admission is free. |
